A number of years ago I stopped taking the pill, hoping we'd get pregnant after a while. But unfortunately I just didn't get pregnant. I then went to the GP and she referred me to the hospital. Tests were done there, and it turned out we would need medical help to get pregnant after all.
But the hospital in the Netherlands didn't feel trustworthy. They could never give clear answers to our questions, there was often a lot of time between appointments so the whole thing took very long. It felt like we were just "a number."
Because of this I started searching online for other options. I quickly landed on Humanfirst. After reading all the information on the website I contacted Evren. She was immediately very helpful and gave clear answers to all the questions I had about this process at Acibadem Hospital. This felt right straight away, and so we decided to start the process through Humanfirst.
Evren helped with all the applications to the health insurer and with guiding us through the process. This was wonderful, especially since we did the first 7 days of treatment (hormone stimulation) in the Netherlands and only then went to Istanbul for the rest of the treatment. With Evren's guidance this went really well.
Once in Istanbul we were welcomed by Hatice, our host. A super sweet and helpful woman. She was present at every appointment, which made everything go really smoothly. At the hospital we met Dr. Cem Demirel and his team. It was a warm welcome. And fortunately Dr. Cem did have answers to all our questions and his treatment plan was very clear. In total we went to the hospital 3 times for our treatment, and in between we had all the time to do fun things in Istanbul. It really felt like a vacation with the occasional hospital appointment.
After the last appointment we said goodbye to the team and our host Hatice. After that we flew back to the Netherlands. After 10 days I was able to take a test, and it was positive!! I'm now 35 weeks pregnant and we're expecting our baby boy soon.
We are so grateful to Evren, Hatice and Dr. Cem and his team for all the good care and guidance. We look back on this experience very positively
