Sevde & Ahmed's Story (Jul 2015)

July 2015

I'd love to share our experience with you about the ICSI treatment we had in Istanbul. I want to thank Human First for this, and especially Evren Buyukcinar for her kind guidance. She was always easy to reach, which I personally found really nice. After a year of not being able to have children, my husband was diagnosed with oligozoospermia. The urologist advised us to go for ICSI treatment.

I soon started looking up information online about ICSI and everything that comes with it. We also had to process it all, and we felt the need to share it with family and friends. It really helps to have people around you who want to support you through it.

Together with my sweet husband, we went looking for where we wanted to be treated. The first time, I just let everything happen as it came and chose a treatment without anesthesia for the egg retrieval, since anesthesia wasn't standard there. I didn't get pregnant from the first attempt. The pain of the retrieval is definitely bearable, but the fear of going through it again was so great that I kept wanting to postpone the next treatment. Both some of the clinic's staff and the retrieval itself made me want to look further afield.

So I started looking into where anesthesia was used, and I quickly came across the Human First website. It was mainly the patient stories that made us decide to go to Istanbul. Istanbul is a beautiful city with a lot to see, which also gave us a bit of a holiday feeling.

The hospital staff were very friendly and helpful. You got personal attention, sometimes with two doctors reviewing the ultrasound. I absolutely never felt like just a number. You also get your own little room where you can calmly prepare for the retrieval and the transfer, and rest afterwards. Having the retrieval under anesthesia, by the way, went really well.

We got to be happy for 7 weeks with a positive pregnancy test! Unfortunately the little embryo didn't develop further after that, and I had a D&C. The fact that a pregnancy happened at all gives me a lot of hope for the next treatment. If we ever want to try a third round, you can probably guess where it will be.

In short, if you want good service and treatment, sign up with Human First!

Kind regards,

Sevde & Ahmed
