Every IVF/ICSI treatment begins with hormone stimulation: medication that causes multiple follicles to mature at once. The IVF team draws up a personal schedule for you — and you can simply start at home if you wish.
In a natural cycle, usually just one egg matures per month. A good chance with IVF or ICSI requires more eggs. Hormone injections stimulate the ovaries to mature multiple follicles at once, so several eggs can be retrieved at once.
There's no standard dosage. The IVF team draws up a personal schedule based on your medical file — age, hormone levels, previous treatments and ultrasound findings. Commonly used medications include Menopur and Gonal-F, supplemented with a medication that prevents premature ovulation and the dual trigger injection that induces ovulation at the right moment.
If your body responds differently than expected, the schedule is adjusted along the way. For a follow-up attempt, the team also critically reviews the previous schedule: our patients regularly find that an adjusted choice of medication makes all the difference.
A major advantage of our journey: you receive the prescription from us and can start stimulation at home, including the first check-up ultrasounds. You then only travel to Istanbul on day 9 of treatment, keeping your stay to about 10 days. We'll advise you on the best place to have the ultrasounds done, ideally close to home or work.
Expect €900 to €1,500 in medication costs, depending on dosage and schedule. PLACEHOLDER_KOSTEN with reimbursement applications and are happy to help you sort this out from start to finish.
No. The injections use a thin needle under the skin, and almost everyone learns it after a single instruction session. In Istanbul a nurse explains everything calmly; if you start at home, you'll receive clear instructions beforehand, including videos that show step by step how to prepare and give the injection.
Most women experience at most mild symptoms such as bloating, tender breasts or mood swings. The medical team closely monitors your response through ultrasounds and bloodwork and adjusts where needed.
